Alright, let’s talk about this project I just finished – remaking the PRADA Re-Edition 2005 bag. You know, the one that’s like a blast from the past, inspired by their mini hobo bag from back in the day. So, I got this idea to try and recreate it myself. Why? Well, why not? I’m a huge fan of PRADA bags.

I started by digging up everything I could find about this bag. I looked up pictures, descriptions, anything that could give me a good sense of what I was dealing with. I found that it is made of Re-Nylon, which is a kind of recycled nylon material. I even spent a good chunk of time just staring at pictures of the bag from all angles, trying to get a feel for its shape and size.

Next up, I had to get my hands on some materials. Now, the original bag is made of some special kind of regenerated nylon yarn produced from recycled. I decided to hunt down some fabric that felt pretty similar to that. I found the one called Re-Nylon in a local shop. Also, I needed some metal hardware for the strap and the logo. I ended up finding some decent-looking stuff online. This step took a bit of time, but I wasn’t in a rush.

The Building Process

Once I had all my materials, it was time to start putting this thing together. First, I sketched out a rough pattern based on the pictures I had. Then, I carefully cut out the fabric according to my pattern. Let me tell you, cutting fabric is not as easy as it looks, especially when you want to make sure you don’t mess it up! So it took me a couple of days to make sure the fabric is nice.

After the cutting, I started sewing. I used my trusty old sewing machine for this part. I sewed the pieces together, bit by bit, following the shape of the original bag as closely as I could. I don’t know how many times I re-did some of the seams, but I wanted to make sure it was sturdy and looked good.

  • Sketching: I sketched out a pattern based on the pictures.
  • Cutting: I cut out the fabric according to my pattern.
  • Sewing: I sewed the pieces together with my sewing machine.
  • Assembling: I assembled the bag, piece by piece.

The next big hurdle was the strap. The original has this cool detachable strap. I tried a few different ways to recreate that, and eventually, I managed to make something that worked and looked pretty darn close to the real deal. I also added that iconic PRADA logo, which was a bit tricky, but I think it turned out okay.

Finally, after a lot of trial and error, I finished the bag. I have to say, it was a lot of work, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s not perfect, of course, but it definitely looks like a PRADA Re-Edition 2005 bag. And the best part? I made it myself! From start to finish, this project was a real labor of love, but seeing the finished product made it all worthwhile. Hope you guys like it.
