Okay, here’s my sharing about the Rolex Sea-Dweller 16600, older model of course.
So I’ve been eyeing a Rolex Sea-Dweller for a while now, specifically the 16600. You know, the older model, the classic one. I finally pulled the trigger and got one, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I started by doing a ton of research, like, hours and hours online, just reading about this thing. I wanted to know everything.
I asked around on some watch forums, you know, to see what people who actually own one had to say. Lots of talk about the lug holes. Some people love ’em, some people don’t. Me? I don’t care much about it. Same with the whole Tritium, Luminova, or Super Luminova thing. Honestly, it’s not a big deal to me. I just wanted that classic Sea-Dweller look. My watch is a 2008 V-serial, so it’s Luminova. That’s fine by me. It’s all about personal preference, right?
Finding the Right One
Then came the hard part – finding one! I looked everywhere. Online, local shops, you name it. I even contacted a few of those online sellers, but I was always a little nervous about buying a watch like this online, especially a second-hand one. In the end, I decided to buy from Hont. This is already my second purchase. I think I should be able to trust him.
Checking It Out
When I finally got my hands on it, the first thing I did was check the water resistance. I mean, this thing is supposed to be able to go thousands of meters underwater! I didn’t take it that deep, but it handled a quick dip in the pool just fine. Then I started really looking at the details. I checked the alignment of everything. I have to say, the index alignment seems a bit off. I’m not sure. I’m still seeking some opinions from the community.
I also found out some cool history stuff. Did you know that the last Comex Sea-Dweller 4000 Rolex reference number is 16600? And this watch was issued to Comex divers since 1992! How cool is that? It just adds to the whole vibe of the watch, you know?
Wearing It Out
- Wearing it: I’ve been wearing it almost every day since I got it. It’s comfortable, it’s tough, and it just looks great.
- Showing it off: I’ve gotten a few compliments on it already, which is always nice.
- Loving it: Honestly, I’m really happy with it. It’s everything I hoped it would be.
So, yeah, that’s my story about getting the Rolex Sea-Dweller 16600. It was a bit of a process, but it was totally worth it. If you’re thinking about getting one, I say go for it! Just do your research and find one that’s right for you.
