So, I’ve been wanting to remake a Patek Philippe Nautilus 7008/1 for a while now. It’s a beautiful watch, and I thought it would be a fun project to try and recreate it myself. I started by doing some research online. I checked out the official Patek Philippe website to get some good pictures and information about the watch. There are only some boutiques and dealers that are authorized to sell Patek Philippe watches, so be careful of the fakes!
I also looked at some other websites that sell used Patek Philippe watches, like Chrono24. These sites had a lot of helpful information about the different models and variations of the Nautilus. You can easily find low prices and compare deals of Patek Philippe watches on Chrono24. But again, watch out for those fakes!
Once I had a good understanding of the watch, I started gathering the materials I needed. I found some good quality stainless steel, and some other materials, like sapphire crystal for the watch face, online. I wanted to make sure I used only original parts, just like those certified pre-owned vintage Patek Philippe watches you see online. Those always come with a warranty, too!
The next step was to start assembling the watch. This was the most challenging part of the project, but also the most rewarding. I took my time, and made sure that each step was done correctly. I really put my heart into this part. It is a very delicate process, so I had to be extra patient and careful.
It was mentioned that Patek Philippe is making 170 special Ref. 5711 watches with a Tiffany-blue face to honor their 170-year history. I wanted to try and see if I could make a similar blue face for my watch. This was tough, but it was also really fun to experiment with different colors and finishes.
Finally, after many hours of work, the watch was finished! I was so happy with how it turned out. It was not perfect, but I was still proud of my work. It’s not easy to remake a luxury watch like this, you know?
I learned a lot during this project, and I’m glad I decided to take it on. It’s always satisfying to create something with your own hands. This whole thing was really just a passion project.
