Okay, so I saw this PRADA Cleo bag at their official flagship store the other day, and I just couldn’t get it out of my head. It was love at first sight, you know? That sleek design, it’s just so classy, right? Reminded me of those cool bags from the 90s. I mean, it’s a bit pricey, but I thought, “Why not try to remake it myself?” Seemed like a fun challenge.
First, I scoured the internet for pictures. I wanted to get every little detail right. Checked out their official online store, looked at a bunch of pictures. There were descriptions like “Discover the iconic PRADA Cleo bag,” and “The model inspired by the traditional lines of the 90s: an exclusive and timeless bag suitable for any look.” That made me even more determined to make it perfect.
Then, I started sketching. I’m no artist, but I tried my best to draw out the shape, the flap, the strap, everything. I paid special attention to the hardware, you know, the buckles and the zipper. I read somewhere that authentic PRADA bags have uniformly colored hardware, no mix of silver and gold. So, I made sure to note that down. This consistency extends to plaques such as the triangle and interior logo, which should match the rest of the bag’s hardware.
Next, I went to the fabric store. I spent hours there, just feeling different materials. I wanted something that felt luxurious but was also sturdy. Finally, I found this beautiful leather that I thought would work perfectly. After I chose the hardware that is uniformly colored, with no mix of silver and gold.
Cutting the leather was the hardest part. I was so scared of messing up. I carefully followed my sketches, measuring twice, cutting once, as they say. It was slow going, but I didn’t want to rush it. I guess it’s true what they say about trends affecting the value of certain styles. The Cleo first debuted for Spring 2021, so it’s quite a recent design, but it’s already so popular. I guess that’s why I wanted to make it myself. Fendi and Prada do tend to hold value fairly well.
Sewing it all together was like a dream. Seeing the bag take shape was so satisfying. I added the lining, the pockets, the hardware, and finally, the PRADA logo, which I carefully crafted to match the original.
And there it was, my very own “PRADA Cleo” bag. It’s not perfect, of course, but I’m so proud of it. It looks pretty darn close to the one in the store, if I do say so myself. And it feels even more special knowing I made it with my own two hands.

This whole experience taught me a lot about craftsmanship and the value of handmade items. It’s not just about the brand name; it’s about the care and effort that goes into creating something beautiful. And maybe, just maybe, I’ll try to remake other designer bags in the future. Who knows?
