So, I saw this PRADA Tessuto Nylon Backpack at the official flagship store the other day, and I was like, “Hmm, this looks kinda cool.” But the price tag? Not so cool. Then I remembered my friend told me, “Hey, you can totally remake this!” So, that’s exactly what I decided to do.

First, I started digging around for info. Turns out, these Prada bags are famous for their nylon stuff. People are still crazy about them. There was even some report saying the black Re-Edition shoulder bag was the most wanted bag in 2022. Anyway, I needed to find that same kind of nylon material.

  • Scoured the internet for “durable nylon fabric.”
  • Checked out some local fabric stores. This was a bit of a challenge, but I was determined.

After a lot of searching, I finally found something that felt right. It was tough, kinda shiny, and felt like it could handle some rain. The real Prada bags have a quality tag inside. It’s like a little white tag with a number. That number is supposed to be the factory number. I didn’t bother with this at first, but then I thought, why not go all the way?

  • Bought a small, white, square-shaped tag.
  • Wrote a random number on it with a fabric pen.
  • Sewed it onto the bottom seam of the bag’s interior pocket.

Next, I had to figure out the design. I looked at tons of pictures of the PRADA Tessuto Nylon Backpack online. There are a few different versions, it seems. Some have a flat handle, some have a printed design, some are a mix between a backpack and a shoulder bag. I decided to go with the classic design, the one with a top flap and two front pockets. I sketched it out a few times on paper until I was happy with it.

Then came the hard part – actually making the bag. I’m no expert sewer, but I’ve dabbled a bit. I used my sketches as a pattern and carefully cut out the nylon fabric. It was tricky, but I took my time.

  • Cut the fabric into the right shapes.
  • Sewed the pieces together, starting with the main body of the bag.
  • Added the top flap and the front pockets.

The hardware was another challenge. Prada uses this silver-tone hardware, and I wanted to get it as close as possible. I ended up finding some similar-looking buckles and zippers at a craft store.

  • Attached the buckles and zippers to the bag.
  • Added some straps. I found some strong, black webbing material that looked pretty good.

Finally, after many hours, I finished it! It wasn’t perfect, but it looked surprisingly close to the real thing. I even added a little “Prada” logo that I printed out and carefully attached. Not sure if it’s legit, but it looks cool. Now, I have a backpack that looks like a designer bag, but I made it myself and for way cheaper! I guess you could say, I’m pretty proud of my little remake project.

Is it a perfect replica?

Probably not, but it’s close enough for me. Plus, it was a fun project, and I learned a lot along the way. So if you ever see a fancy bag at a store and feel inspired to remake it, I say go for it! It’s a wild ride!
