Alright, alright, lemme tell ya ’bout this… this… fancy bag, the Yess-Saint-Law-rent Man-hat-tan thingy. Don’t ask me how to spell it, I just say it how I hear it. My grandkid showed me a picture, said it’s all the rage with them city folk. Costs a pretty penny too, or so they say.
What’s the fuss about this YSL Manhattan Bag, anyway?
Now, I ain’t no expert on these fancy purses, but from what I gather, this Yess-thing bag is one of them “it” bags. You know, the kind them movie stars and rich folks carry around. It’s got a fancy name, “Manhattan,” like that big city where everything’s expensive. Makes ya wonder if it costs more just ’cause it’s got that name on it. Probably does, knowing them city slickers.
- Looks: They say it’s got a simple shape, kinda boxy-like. Not too much bling-bling, but it’s got that… that… “expensive” look, you know? The leather’s supposed to be real good, soft and all. Some got fancy buckles or somethin’, some don’t. They come in all sorts of colors, but I reckon the black ones are the most popular. Black goes with everything, even a potato sack, if you had to wear one, God forbid.
- Price: Don’t even get me started on the price! My grandkid whispered somethin’ ’bout it costin’ more than my old cow Bessie did! Can you believe that? For a bag! I could feed a whole family for a month on that kind of money. But I heard tell that you can get ’em cheaper over in Europe. Paris, I think they said. Apparently, them bags are a lot less money over there. Maybe even 20% less! And if you’re from America, you can get even more money back, somethin’ called a “VAT refund.” Sounds like a bunch of mumbo jumbo to me, but if it saves you a few dollars, who am I to complain?
Original Order vs. Them Second-Hand Ones
Now, if you’re like me and ain’t got a money tree growin’ in the backyard, you might think about gettin’ one of them used bags. They call it “second-hand” or “pre-loved” to make it sound fancy. But it’s just used, plain and simple. And you can get ’em cheaper, sometimes way cheaper. I heard tell you can find ’em online, places where folks sell their old stuff. They say you can get ’em for half the price, sometimes even 70% off! That’s more like it!
But here’s the thing, an “original order” bag, that means you’re gettin’ it brand spankin’ new, straight from the store, or maybe from their fancy website. It’s gonna be perfect, no scratches or nothin’. And it’ll have that new leather smell, which I reckon is somethin’ some folks like. It also might be worth more money later on, if you decide to sell it. Some of them bags, especially the ones they don’t make a lot of, go up in price. It’s like investin’ in gold, only it’s a bag. Go figure.
So, is it worth it?
Well, that depends on who you ask. If you got money to burn, then why not? Go ahead and buy that fancy new bag. But if you’re like me, and you gotta watch your pennies, then maybe a used one is the way to go. Or maybe just stick to a good ol’ sturdy tote bag. It’ll hold your groceries just the same.

If you want a brand new Yess-thing bag, you gotta go to their fancy stores or their website. They got stores in all them big cities. Or just search online, type in “Saint Laurent Official Website” or somethin’ like that. My grandkid showed me. As for the used ones, like I said, there’s websites for that. Places where folks sell their old clothes and bags. Just search “second hand Saint Laurent Manhattan bags” on that internet thingy. You’ll find plenty, I reckon. They even got sales sometimes, you know, like them “outlet sales” where they sell last season’s stuff cheaper. You gotta keep your eyes peeled for them deals.

And another thing, don’t get confused, sometimes they call it “Yves Saint Laurent” and sometimes just “Saint Laurent”. My grandkid explained it to me, it’s the same thing, just shorter. Like callin’ your grandma “Gran” instead of “Grandmother”. Same person, just a shorter name. The bags, they got different logos, but they’re from the same place.
Honestly, I don’t see what all the fuss is about. It’s just a bag, right? But then again, what do I know? I’m just an old woman who prefers a good sturdy basket to carry my things. But if you want that fancy Yess-thing Manhattan bag, well, now you know a little bit more about it. Don’t go spendin’ all your money on it, though. Remember, you can’t take it with you when you go.
