Remake PRADA Arqué Bag? Classic Style Still Rocks!

Okay, so I’ve been obsessed with the PRADA Arqué Re-Nylon and Brushed Leather Shoulder Bag. It’s such a classic, right? But the price tag? Ouch. So, I decided, why not try to remake it myself? Yeah, it sounded crazy, but I was determined.

First, I started by gathering all the materials. This was tricky. I needed that specific Re-Nylon fabric and some good quality brushed leather. Spent hours online and at local stores, comparing textures and colors. Finally, I found some materials that were pretty close to the original. Not perfect, but close enough.

Then, the real work began. I carefully studied pictures of the bag, paying attention to every little detail. I made a rough sketch, then a more detailed pattern. Cutting the fabric and leather was nerve-wracking. One wrong cut and I’d have to start all over. I took it slow and measured everything at least twice.

  • Sewing the Re-Nylon was surprisingly okay. My old sewing machine handled it like a champ.
  • But the leather? That was a whole different story. It was tough, and my machine was struggling. I broke a few needles, I won’t lie.
  • Figuring out the hardware was also a challenge. I ended up repurposing some pieces from an old bag and finding similar-looking ones online.

Slowly but surely, the bag started to take shape. I sewed the pieces together, added the lining, and attached the hardware. It wasn’t easy, and there were definitely moments where I wanted to give up. I spent many late nights hunched over my sewing machine, fueled by coffee and sheer stubbornness.

Finally, after weeks of work, it was done. My very own, handmade version of the PRADA Arqué bag. It wasn’t an exact replica, of course. There were imperfections here and there, but I was so proud of it. I actually made it!

The Result

Wearing it out for the first time was a thrill. I got so many compliments, and people couldn’t believe I made it myself. It felt amazing to carry something I had created with my own two hands. And you know what? It felt even better knowing I saved a ton of money in the process! It was not an easy project, but totally worth it.
