Okay, so I’ve been eyeing those chic PRADA Soft Padded Re-Nylon Mini-Bags forever, right? They’re just so darn cute, but the price tag? Ouch! Not in my budget, sadly. But hey, I’m not one to give up easily. I thought, “Why not try to make one myself?” And that’s exactly what I did!

Getting Started

First, I went down a rabbit hole online, looking at every picture of the bag I could find. I zoomed in on every stitch and detail. I needed to figure out the size, the shape, the whole shebang. Then, I sketched out a rough pattern on some paper. It wasn’t perfect, but it was a start. It is a very very difficult step, as I am not a professional, but I do not give up!

Gathering Supplies

Next up, materials. I hit up my local fabric store and found some black nylon that looked pretty similar to the real deal. I also picked up some soft padding, a zipper, and some black thread. For the straps, I found some thick black ribbon that seemed sturdy enough. I am so excited to buy those raw material!

Cutting and Sewing

Now came the tricky part. I carefully cut out the nylon using my makeshift pattern, then I cut out the padding to match. I started by sewing the padding to the inside of the nylon pieces. This took some time and a lot of patience. I messed up a few times and had to rip out the seams and start over. Ugh, frustrating, but part of the process, I guess. But I have confidence I can do this perfectly!

  • First I sewed the side pieces together to form the main body of the bag.
  • Then, I attached the bottom piece.
  • Next, I carefully inserted the zipper and sewed it in place.

This was super challenging, and I definitely poked myself with the needle a few times.

The Straps

The straps were a bit easier. I just folded the ribbon in half and sewed it together to make it stronger. Then, I attached them to the bag. I made sure to reinforce the stitching here so they wouldn’t rip off.

The Finishing Touches

Finally, I added a little pocket inside for my phone and keys. I just used some leftover nylon and sewed it to the inside of the bag. It’s not the prettiest, but it does the job!

The Result

And there you have it! My very own “RemakePRADA Soft Padded Re-Nylon Mini-Bag”. It’s not an exact replica, of course, and it’s definitely got some imperfections. But I made it myself, and that’s pretty cool. It was a fun project, and I learned a lot along the way. Plus, I saved a ton of money! Maybe I’ll try making another one in a different color next time.

What do you guys think of it?
