Alright, so I’ve been eyeing those shiny Rolex watches for a while now, you know, the Sea-Dweller ones. They look pretty slick, but man, the price tag is a real kick in the pants. So, I thought, “Why not try to find a really good fake one?” A high-imitation version, as they call it. I mean I just want to have one that looks like a real Rolex, I’m not a collector.
First, I spent some time looking around to get the right thing for me. I didn’t know that there’s actually something like a model number for these watches. I learned that the Sea-Dweller I wanted has this number, 116600. Apparently, it came out in 2014 at some fancy watch show. Rolex has some other similar watches, like the Submariner, but I really wanted to have the Sea-Dweller.
I dug a little deeper and found out that there are a whole bunch of different versions of the Sea-Dweller. I guess this has been around for like, 50 years! The first one was called the “Double Red Sea-Dweller”. Sounds kind of cool, right?
Here’s what I did to get my hands on one:
- I spent a good chunk of time looking through different websites that people mentioned in forums. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest.
- I made sure to compare prices and, more importantly, the pictures. I wanted to find one that looked as close to the real deal as possible.
- I found a website and started a chat with them. They were super nice and answered all my questions. They even sent me extra pictures of the watch I was interested in.
- After a lot of back and forth, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered one. I paid through some online payment system. It felt a little sketchy, but hey, what can you do?
- The waiting game was the worst. I was constantly checking my email for shipping updates.
Finally, after what felt like forever, the package arrived! I ripped it open like a kid on Christmas morning. And there it was, my very own “high imitation” Rolex Sea-Dweller.
Did it live up to the hype?
Honestly, I was pretty impressed. It looked really good, like, surprisingly good. It had some weight to it, and all the little details seemed to be there. Of course, I’m no watch expert, so I’m sure a real collector could spot the differences in a heartbeat. But for me, it was perfect. I wore it out, and nobody even questioned it. I felt like a million bucks, even though my wallet was definitely not feeling the same way. I’m wearing it all the time now, and it’s been great! No problems so far.
So, that’s my story of getting a Rolex Sea-Dweller fake. Was it worth it? For me, yeah, it kind of was. Would I recommend it? That’s up to you. Just be prepared for a bit of a wild ride.
