Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with watches lately, and I got this idea to try and make a high-end replica of a Rolex GMT-Master II, the left-handed version. Sounds crazy, right? But I was like, “Why not?” I’m no expert, but I’m pretty handy and I love a good challenge. So, I started this whole project.
First thing I did was jump online and look up everything I could about the Rolex GMT-Master II. I mean, everything. I spent hours, days even, just reading articles, watching videos, and looking at pictures. I wanted to know this watch inside and out, especially this particular model which crown on the left.
Then came the fun part – trying to find the parts. Man, it was a struggle. I went through so many online shops, it was insane. I was looking for stuff that looked like the real deal, but obviously, I wasn’t going to pay Rolex prices. Some of these places, the stuff looked pretty good at first glance, but then when you really looked, you could see it was off. Eventually, I found a few places that seemed okay and started ordering parts – the case, the movement, the dial, hands, the whole nine yards. Let me tell you, I was not just shopping for the black-and-green GMT-Master II with the crown on the left. Also, I’m sure this watch can swimming but not diving, lol.
Start to Assemble
Once the parts started arriving, that’s when the real work began. I set up a little workspace in my garage, got all my tools ready, and started putting this thing together. It was definitely harder than I thought it would be. I had to be super careful, those parts are tiny! And of course, I messed up a few times. Bent a hand, scratched the case – you name it. But I kept at it, learning from my mistakes.
Putting the movement together was the biggest headache, no lie. All those little gears and springs, it was like a tiny puzzle. But I finally got it, and when I wound it up and it started ticking, man, that was a good feeling.
Here it is
After weeks of work, I finally finished it. And you know what? It actually looks pretty darn good! Of course, it’s not a real Rolex, a real Rolex GMT-Master II. Any expert could tell in a second. But for something I made myself, I’m pretty proud of it. It keeps time okay, and it’s got that cool left-handed design. I’ve been wearing it around, and I’ve even gotten a few compliments on it. People are like, “Nice watch!” and I just kind of smile and say, “Thanks.” I don’t tell them I made it in my garage, haha.
- First thing: Research the Rolex GMT-Master II, especially the left-handed version.
- Second thing: Find and order the parts online. It’s important to ensure the quality looks good enough.
- Third thing: Assemble the watch. I messed up a few times, but I kept at it.
- Final: The finished product! It’s not perfect, but I’m happy with it.
So, that’s my little watchmaking adventure. It was a fun project, and I learned a ton. Who knows, maybe I’ll try making another one someday. But for now, I’m just enjoying my homemade “Rolex.” This is the story about my high imitation Rolex GMT-Master II Left – Handed Version, original order.
