Okay, so, I’ve been seeing this Prada bag everywhere lately, the Soft Padded Re-Nylon Mini-Bag. It’s a remake of a classic style, and I just had to try my hand at recreating it.

First, I gathered all my materials. The most important part was the fabric. This bag is made from Re-Nylon, which is apparently made from recycled ocean plastics. I didn’t have any of that laying around, haha, so I opted for some regular black nylon fabric I found at the fabric store. It’s pretty sturdy stuff, which seemed right for this project.

Next, I started on the pattern. Since I couldn’t find an exact pattern for this bag, I kinda just winged it. I measured out a rectangle, roughly 7 inches by 8.7 inches, for the main body of the bag. The original seems to have a depth of about 2.6 inches, so I accounted for that as well. I also cut out some smaller rectangles for the sides and bottom.

  • Main body: roughly 7″ x 8.7″
  • Depth: roughly 2.6″

Then came the fun part – the padding! I wanted that puffy, quilted look, so I layered some batting between two pieces of nylon and started stitching. I just did some simple straight lines, creating a grid pattern. It wasn’t perfect, but it definitely gave it that padded vibe I was going for.

Once the padded pieces were done, I started assembling the bag. This was a bit tricky, ngl. I sewed the side pieces to the main body, then attached the bottom. It took some time and patience, and a few seam ripper moments, but I eventually got it all together.

The real Prada bag has this silver-tone hardware, including the iconic triangle logo. Since this was a remake and not a copy, and I had already decided to change the material, I chose to use black hardware instead of silver, and I skipped the logo. I did find a black zipper for the top closure, which I thought looked pretty sleek. I also added a simple black nylon strap, nothing fancy, just functional.

The Result

And voila! My very own version of the Prada Soft Padded Re-Nylon Mini-Bag was complete! It’s definitely not an exact replica, and the craftsmanship is nowhere near Prada quality, but you know what? I’m pretty proud of it. It was a fun project, and I learned a lot along the way. Plus, I now have a cute new bag to carry around, and that is all I wanted.

So, there you have it! My little adventure in recreating a designer bag. Maybe I’ll try another one sometime. What do you think? Should I? Let me know in the comments!
