Okay, so I’ve been eyeing this OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean watch for a while now. I finally decided to pull the trigger and check it out at one of their specialty stores.
First off, I went to their website to see what kind of configurations they had. I saw they had both 45.5mm and 43.5mm cases. I was interested in the bigger one, the 45.5mm one. I already own a Seasmaster Planet Ocean 45.5mm for about 15 years.
Head to the Store
So, I found the closest OMEGA specialty store near me and headed over there. I walked in, and the place was pretty fancy, as you’d expect. The salesperson greeted me and asked what I was looking for. I told them I was interested in the Planet Ocean 45.5mm Co-Axial Master Chronometer.
Check the Watch Out
They brought out a few different variations of the watch for me to check out. I got to see that the black ceramic unidirectional rotating divers’ bezel. One had this OMEGA Ceragold diving scale that looked pretty sharp. They explained that it’s a self-winding chronograph with a column wheel and Co-Axial escapement, whatever that means. It’s also a “Certified Master Chronometer” approved by METAS, which I guess makes it super accurate and resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss.
I tried on a couple of them. They felt really solid and well-made, which is what I was expecting from an OMEGA. The salesperson let me play around with the bezel and the chronograph functions. Everything felt smooth and precise. I’m not a diver, but it’s cool to know that this watch is built for that kind of stuff.
Make the Decision
After trying on a few different models and asking a bunch of questions.I asked about the price, they told me to go to a website named Chrono24 and I can compare deals on it. I finally decided on the one I wanted. I went with the classic black dial and bezel on a stainless steel bracelet. It just felt right on my wrist.
Wrap It Up
The whole process was pretty straightforward. The salesperson was helpful and knowledgeable without being pushy. I paid for the watch, and they gave me all the paperwork, warranty information, and a nice presentation box.
Overall, it was a good experience. I’m happy with my purchase. This OMEGA Seamaster Planet Ocean is a serious timepiece, and I’m looking forward to wearing it for years to come. I might even take up diving just to put it to the test! Just kidding, maybe not.
