Okay, so, I wanted to remake a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5726. You know, the one from the original order. It’s a pretty sick watch, and I thought it would be a cool project to try and recreate it.

First, I did some digging online, looking at photos and stuff, you know. I found out that they discontinued the black and white dial versions back in 2019 and replaced them with a blue dial one. But I wanted to do the classic black dial. They call it the 5726/1A-001. This watch is like a legend, you know, first came out in 1976, a real classic from Genta.

I started by sketching out the design, trying to get all the details right. The shape of the case, the bracelet, the dial, the hands, everything. It was a bit tricky, to be honest, but I kept at it, refining the sketches until I was happy with them.

Finding the Parts

Next, I needed to find the right parts. This was a challenge, man. I searched all over, online and in some local shops. It’s not like you can just walk into a store and find these parts, you know?

  • Case: I eventually found a case that was pretty close to the original. It wasn’t perfect, but it was good enough for this project.
  • Bracelet: The bracelet was tough. I ended up getting one that looked similar and then modifying it to match the original design as closely as possible. Took some time, but I got there.
  • Dial and Hands: These were the hardest to find. I looked for hours online for the right parts. I bought some parts from different places to test.
  • Movement: I used an automatic movement I already had from another watch. It’s not the same as the original, but it works, and it’s inside the watch, so who’s gonna know, right?

Once I had all the parts, I started assembling the watch. I carefully put everything together, piece by piece. It was like building a puzzle, a really complicated one. I had to be super careful not to damage anything, especially the dial and hands. They’re so delicate, you know?

After hours of work, I finally finished it. Man, it felt good to see it all come together. It’s not an exact replica, of course, but it’s pretty close. I’m really happy with how it turned out. It’s a cool piece, and it’s something I made myself, which is pretty awesome if you ask me.

This was a fun project. Took a lot of time and effort, but it was worth it. I learned a lot about watches and how they’re made. And now I have this cool, custom-made watch that looks like a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5726. Not bad, right?
