Remake PRADA Symbole Tote Bag: Yay or Nay? The Classic Style Dilemma

Okay, so, I’ve been eyeing those Prada Symbole Tote Bags for a while. You know, the ones with the triangle pattern all over? They’re super chic, but also, like, really expensive. So, I thought, “Why not try to make one myself?” I mean, how hard could it be, right?

First things first, I needed to gather my materials. I found some nice, thick fabric that felt durable, you know, like it could actually hold stuff without falling apart. For the pattern, I figured I could just print out a bunch of triangles and use them as a template. I also picked up some sturdy handles and a zipper for the top.

Getting Started

I started by cutting out two big rectangles for the front and back of the bag. Then, the fun part – cutting out what felt like a million little triangles. I pinned them onto the fabric rectangles in the classic Prada pattern, making sure they were evenly spaced and all. It took forever, but it was kind of satisfying, like putting together a puzzle.

Sewing It All Together

  • Next up, sewing. I carefully stitched each triangle onto the fabric, row by row. This part was definitely the most time-consuming. I had to keep stopping and starting, making sure the triangles stayed in place and didn’t bunch up. It wasn’t perfect, but I think that added to the handmade charm, you know?
  • After the triangles were done, I sewed the front and back pieces together, leaving the top open. Then, I added the handles, making sure they were securely attached because the last thing I wanted was for them to come off when I was carrying it.
  • The final touch was the zipper. I wanted the bag to be secure, so I carefully sewed the zipper to the top edges. I gotta say, zippers are tricky! It took a few tries to get it right, but I finally managed to get it in there.

The Final Result

And there you have it, my very own, homemade Prada Symbole Tote Bag! It’s definitely not an exact replica, but I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. It’s got that cool, geometric look, and it’s surprisingly sturdy. Plus, I saved a ton of money by making it myself.

It was a fun project, and I learned a lot along the way. It made me appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into these designer bags. Maybe I’ll try making another one someday, who knows?
