Alright, so I finally got my hands on that CopyOMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, the Sapphire version, Cal.3861. Man, was I excited! I’d been eyeing this watch for a while now. I started looking around for this watch, you know, checking out different places, seeing what the deal was.

I ended up finding one, the “original order” they called it. It’s supposed to be just like the real deal, the one that went to the moon! I was stoked. I went ahead and ordered it back in August of 2021. Took a little bit to arrive, but that was expected. Opened up the box, and there it was, lookin’ all shiny and new. It was based on that 4th generation Speedmaster, the one the astronauts wore. Pretty cool, huh?

Here’s what I did first:

  • Tried it on, of course! Felt good on my wrist, not too heavy, not too light. Just right.
  • Wound it up. It’s got that manual wind thing going on, which I dig. Gives it a classic feel.
  • Played around with the chronograph, timing random stuff around the house. Felt like a kid with a new toy!

This watch, it’s got that see-through back, so you can see all the little gears and stuff moving around inside. It’s pretty mesmerizing, to be honest. I spent a good chunk of time just staring at it. The case is asymmetrical, and it’s got this black ceramic bezel ring that looks sharp.

I’ve been wearing it around, showing it off a bit. Gotten a few compliments, too. Some folks say it’s not really a watch you’d wear with a suit and tie, but I think it looks pretty good no matter what. Plus I’m really into the whole space, apollo 11, apollo 8 connection, it’s neat. And I heard that this new white dial Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch is the first ever of its kind to become part of the permanent collection, not limited in number or production. That’s cool.

Overall, I’m really happy with this CopyOMEGA Speedmaster. It’s a good-looking watch, feels solid, and it’s got that whole moon landing history thing going for it. Definitely one of my better purchases. I think it’ll last me a good long time.

Final thoughts?

If you’re thinking about getting a watch, and you want something that’s got some history and looks pretty slick, this one’s worth checking out. Just make sure you get that “original order” one, you know? It’s the closest you’ll get to the real deal without, spending a fortune.
