Okay, so I’ve been eyeing this PRADA Symbole Tote Bag for a while now, but the price tag? Ouch. So, I thought, “Why not try to remake it myself?” Here’s how I went about it.
First, I spent hours just staring at pictures of the bag online. I zoomed in on every detail, the stitching, the hardware, the way the fabric hangs. I really wanted to get a feel for the bag’s construction. You know, really understand how it is made.
Next, I went on a fabric hunt. This was tricky! I visited so many stores, feeling up different materials, trying to find something that had that same luxurious look and feel. I finally found a fabric that I thought would work. It wasn’t exactly the same, but it was pretty darn close, and most importantly, it fit my budget.
Then came the pattern. I couldn’t find an exact replica, so I decided to draft my own. This was a challenge, let me tell you. I took measurements from the pictures, drew up some rough sketches, and made a few mock-ups out of cheap fabric. It took a few tries, but I finally got a pattern I was happy with.
- Cutting the fabric was nerve-wracking. I double-checked everything, made sure I was following the pattern correctly, and then I just went for it. It was like, “No turning back now!”
- Then came the sewing. This took forever! I’m not the fastest sewer, and I wanted to make sure everything was perfect. I followed the lines carefully, reinforced the seams, and slowly but surely, the bag started to take shape.
- The hardest part was probably the handles and the hardware. I had to get creative with finding similar-looking pieces. I scoured online stores, visited some local craft shops, and even checked out some thrift stores, eventually finding items that were “close enough” with some modifications.
The Final Result
After many hours, a few mishaps, and a whole lot of patience, I finally finished my PRADA Symbole Tote Bag remake! It’s not a perfect replica, of course. There are definitely some differences, but I’m so proud of it. It looks pretty good, if I do say so myself, and it feels amazing to carry around something I made with my own two hands. Plus, I saved a ton of money, which is always a bonus! And, it looks high-end like those luxury brands like Gucci and Burberry. This whole experience has definitely inspired me to try making more bags in the future. Maybe I’ll even try a different style next time, like a shoulder bag, mini bag, or even a bucket bag!
