Where to Buy Remake Patek Philippe PP Nautilus 5726: A Guide to the Best Specialty Stores

Okay, so I’ve been wanting to do this for a while, and today I finally dived in. I got this idea to remake a Patek Philippe Nautilus 5726, specifically for those specialty stores. You know, the ones that have those fancy watches that cost more than my car? Yeah, those.

First, I started by looking around online. I checked out a bunch of websites to see what these watches actually go for. I mean, I knew they were expensive, but wow, some of these prices are just insane! I found some on Chrono24, which seems to be a big deal in the watch world. They had a Patek Philippe 5726/1A-014 going for who knows how much. Another site had a 2024 model, the 5726/1A, listed at 95,000 dollars. Seriously, who has that kind of money?

So, after getting a feel for the market, I dug deeper into what makes this watch so special. It’s got this annual calendar thing, which was apparently a big deal when Patek Philippe first introduced it. I also learned that they switched from black and white dials to a blue one in 2019 for the 5726/1A-014 model. Seems like they’re always trying to make these things harder to get.

I spent a good chunk of time just reading about the history of the Nautilus series. The 5711 is like the king of them all, super sleek and simple. But the 5726 adds that calendar complication, which I guess makes it a bit more practical, if you can call a watch that costs tens of thousands of dollars “practical”.

My Process

Now, onto the fun part – actually trying to remake it. I decided to focus on the 5726/1A-001 model, the one with the white dial. It just looks so clean and classic.

  • I started with gathering the materials. Let me say that getting stainless steel is not as easy as you might think. I ended up at this place that usually deals with industrial stuff, but they had what I needed.
  • Then, the cutting and shaping. This was tricky. I don’t have any fancy laser cutters or anything, so it was all manual. I used some basic tools, and let’s just say it took a lot of patience and a few do-overs.
  • The dial was the hardest part. I tried to replicate that embossed pattern they have. It’s not perfect, but I think I got pretty close. I used a tiny hammer and a set of precision tools. It was like doing surgery.
  • I painted the details on the dial. That was really meticulous work. It has to be perfect, so no shaky hands allowed!
  • Assembling everything was another challenge. I followed some diagrams I found online and just hoped for the best. It’s like putting together a really complicated puzzle.

After all that, I finally finished. It’s not an exact replica, of course. I’m no Patek Philippe, and I don’t have their resources. But I’m pretty proud of how it turned out. It looks similar to the real deal, at least from a distance. And it was a fun project, even if it was a bit crazy.

This whole thing made me appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into these watches even more. I mean, I knew they were high-end, but actually trying to recreate one myself? It’s a whole other level of respect. I don’t think I’ll be making another one anytime soon, but it was definitely an experience.

Would I sell it? Definitely not! But it is an interesting thing, you know? I made it for myself, not to become a millionaire selling watches. That is it, I guess. I just wanted to share my little adventure with you all. Hope you enjoyed it!
