So, I’ve been eyeing this Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag for a while now, the large one. It’s a classic, you know? I finally decided to go for it and check out the whole remake situation at one of their specialty stores.
First off, I did a bit of digging online. I found out that this Galleria bag is a big deal, launched in 2007. It’s, like, super popular and a go-to for a lot of stylish people. And get this, it’s made from this tough Saffiano leather, which is real leather that’s been treated and embossed. It’s not the kind that gets that worn-in, vintage look over time, but it’s strong. Also I saw many people said that this bag can hold value over time, that made me feel good.
Then, I started to search more in Japanese, since I am currently in Japan. There are so many Prada stores here. I searched in Japanese like “心地よさ、表現力、親しみやすさを融合させたシルエットの新しい試み”. Then I got many results talking about the design and customer service of Prada’s new handbag. Some are about the online store. But I decided to go to the real store.
Armed with this info, I headed to the Prada store. I wanted to see the bag in person and talk to someone about the remake process. Walking in, I immediately spotted the Galleria section. There it was, in all its glory. I picked up a large black one – that’s the one I’ve been dreaming of.
The sales associate, a really nice lady, came over and started chatting with me. I asked her a ton of questions about the Saffiano leather, how they remake the bags, and what the process involves. She explained that they have a special team that handles all the remakes. They carefully take the bag apart, clean and treat the leather, and then put it all back together, replacing any worn-out parts.
I was pretty impressed. It sounds like they really know what they’re doing. She also showed me some examples of bags they had already remade. They looked brand new! It’s amazing how they can bring these bags back to life. It made me feel like it could be a good first designer bag for me. So I bought the bag.
I ended up getting a black Galleria. I figured it’s a classic color that will go with everything. Plus, knowing that I can get it remade in the future makes me feel even better about the investment. The sales associate assured me that I can just bring it back to the store whenever I need, and they’ll take care of it. That was the part made me decide to buy it. Because I learned that the bag can hold value over time or even become more valuable as it ages.
So yeah, that’s my Prada Galleria experience. It was a bit of a splurge, but I’m so happy with it. This bag is like a workhorse, super sturdy and just my style. Can’t wait to start using it!
