Alright, so I decided to remake a Patek Philippe Nautilus 7010. It’s a pretty nice watch, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” So, I started digging around to see what I could find about getting one of these. Turns out, buying a real one is a whole process, especially for PC.
First off, I tried to find some useful guides. I found some flashcards online, but they were just a bunch of terms I didn’t really get at first. There were things like “c” and “a” that didn’t make much sense in the context of buying a watch. I felt like I was studying for some exam instead of figuring out how to get this watch.
Then, I stumbled upon a bunch of Linux commands. A whole cheat sheet of them. I thought, “What does this have to do with anything?” Turns out, not much for my watch project, but it was an interesting read, I guess. Lots of tech stuff that I didn’t really need for this.
Next, I found some forum posts about modding games. People were talking about “Godmode” and “2B Hook” for a game called NieR:Automata. It sounded cool, but totally off-topic. I was getting pretty frustrated because all these guides were for the wrong thing. It was like everyone was talking about apples when I was looking for oranges.
I also came across something about “Nouvelles en trois lignes,” which sounded like some kind of French news thing. It was interesting in a weird way, but still, not what I was looking for. I was just trying to remake a watch, not write a novel or play a game.
So, after all this messing around, I decided to just start from scratch. I started gathering materials. I got some tools, some metal, and a few other bits and pieces. I had a picture of the watch, and I just started working on it piece by piece.
- Collecting Tools: I didn’t have all the fancy stuff, just basic tools from my garage.
- Finding Materials: I used some scrap metal I had lying around.
- Building the Watch: I took it step by step, shaping the metal, trying to get the details right.
It was tough. I messed up a lot. The first few attempts looked nothing like the real thing. But I kept at it. I spent hours, days, just working on it. Slowly but surely, it started to look like something. I added the details, the little numbers, the hands, everything.
Finally, after a ton of work, I had something that actually looked like a Patek Philippe Nautilus 7010. It wasn’t perfect, but I was proud of it. I wore it around, showed it to my friends, and they were pretty impressed. They couldn’t believe I made it myself. It was a good feeling, knowing I made something cool from basically nothing.
