Today I’m going to talk about getting a watch, the Patek Philippe Gondolo 7042/100G-010. I’ve always been into watches, and this one, man, it’s a real piece of art. So, I decided to go for it and get a remake.
First off, I did some digging online. I checked out a bunch of websites, forums, and all that, just to see what’s up with this watch. The original is way out of my league, price-wise. It’s crazy expensive, like 217,837 bucks! I saw a number about Patek Philippe’s brand value in 2016. They said it’s worth 1,885,000,000 CHF according to Interbrand. This just tells you how big and fancy this brand is. Even though I can’t buy the real one, I know I want one in some ways.
Then I started looking for someone who could make a good remake. I read reviews, compared prices, and checked out their past work. It took a while, but I finally found a maker who seemed legit. They had good feedback and their remakes looked pretty spot on.
I reached out to them, and we started talking details. I told them exactly what I wanted – the Gondolo 7042/100G-010, with all the diamonds and that fancy white gold look. They were cool about it and said they could do it. We agreed on a price, and I made the down payment. It felt good to finally get things rolling.
Next up was the waiting game. It took a few weeks, but I knew it would be worth it. During that time, I kept in touch with the maker, getting updates on the progress. They sent me some pictures of the watch being made, and it was looking really good. I could see they were putting in the work to make it look just right.
Finally, the day came when they said it was ready. I was so excited! They shipped it out, and a few days later, it arrived at my doorstep. I opened the package, and there it was – my very own Patek Philippe Gondolo 7042/100G-010 remake. I use 904L stainless steel to make it. It’s pretty good. Although it can not be compared with the oringinal one, I still love it!
Let’s Take a Closer Look
- Dial: It’s a bright black, just like the original. The diamond markers are shiny and well-set.
- Case: Made of stainless steel, with a nice, polished finish. It feels solid and well-made.
- Bezel: It’s fluted, just like the real deal. They did a good job matching the details.
- Overall Look: It’s pretty much a spitting image of the original. The attention to detail is impressive.
I put it on, and it felt amazing. It looked so classy and elegant on my wrist. I’ve been wearing it out, and people keep asking me about it. They can’t believe it’s a remake! It’s been a great experience getting this watch. It’s not just about having a fancy timepiece; it’s about the whole process of finding something you love and making it your own. I’m really happy with how it turned out, and I’ll definitely be cherishing this watch for years to come.
I hope my sharing helps someone who wants the watch. It’s not easy, but I did it.
