Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another project! Today, I’m tackling a remake of the Prada Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Tote Bag. You know, the classic style that everyone’s been loving? Yeah, that one. I saw a report somewhere that this bag was like, the hottest thing in 2022, even beating out those other fancy vintage bags. So I thought, why not try to make my own? Plus, I dig that whole Re-Nylon thing Prada’s doing – it’s all about that innovation vibe, right?

First off, I started by grabbing a bunch of pictures of the bag online. I needed to get a real good look at all the details – the shape, the size, that chain strap, everything. I even checked out the official Prada store online, just to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. They’ve got tons of stuff on there, by the way – bags, clothes, you name it.

Next, I had to figure out what materials I needed. From what I gathered, the original is made of this Re-Nylon stuff, which is apparently some kind of special recycled nylon. I spent a good chunk of time trying to find something similar. It wasn’t easy, but I finally found a fabric that I think will work pretty well. And of course, I needed some leather for the handles and that little tag thingy.

Then came the fun part – actually making the bag! I started by sketching out the pattern. I’m not the best at drawing, but I managed to get a decent outline of the bag’s shape. After that, I carefully cut out the fabric according to my pattern.

Sewing everything together was definitely a challenge. I had to be super careful to make sure all the seams were straight and sturdy. The chain strap was a bit tricky too. I ended up using two different kinds of chains and some leather to make it look like the real deal. It took me a couple of tries, but I finally got it right.

After putting it all together, I added the finishing touches. I made a little leather tag, just like the original, and attached it to the bag. I also made sure the inside had a zippered pocket. You gotta have somewhere to put your keys, right?

It took a lot of time and effort, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s not perfect, of course, but it definitely captures the classic style of the Prada Re-Edition 1995. I learned a ton during this project, and it was a blast to see it all come together.

    Things that I did

  • Gathered a bunch of reference images.
  • Searched for the right materials, including a Re-Nylon-like fabric.
  • Sketched out a pattern.
  • Carefully cut out the fabric.
  • Sewed all the pieces together, including the tricky chain strap.
  • Added finishing touches like the leather tag and inner pocket.

So, what do you guys think? Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever tried to remake a designer bag. I’d love to hear about your experiences! And hey, if you’re feeling inspired, maybe you can try making your own Re-Edition 1995 too. It’s a fun challenge, and you’ll end up with a pretty cool bag at the end of it. Until next time, peace out!
