Alright, so I was looking for a new watch, and I really wanted an Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, the Sapphire one. You know, the one with the open case back? It’s a really cool watch. So I started my hunt.
First, I looked at the official Omega website, but obviously, those were way out of my budget. I mean, who has $6,000 just lying around? Not me.
Then, I started looking for places that sold luxury watches, hoping to find a used one. I stumbled upon a site with some pretty unbelievable deals. They were talking about “Legendre Speedys” and “Fliegeruhren,” whatever those are. And they had other brands too, like Rolex, but I was really focused on the Speedmaster.
I also saw an ad somewhere claiming a 90% discount on replica watches. “Replica,” huh? That sounded a bit sketchy, but I was curious. I kept looking.
Then I did some research on the history of the Speedmaster. Turns out, this watch, the 105.012 “Professional,” was the one worn by Neil Armstrong when he landed on the moon in 1969! How cool is that? It was 42mm, made around 1964 to 1968. I learned that a good, original one of these would cost me about $2,500, which, again, is a lot.
Then I found out that Omega stopped making the Speedmaster Reduced collection in 2009.
I spent hours searching, browsing different websites. Some of them looked really dodgy, honestly. Lots of pop-ups and questionable offers. It was tough to know what was real and what wasn’t.
Finally, I decided to check out some local specialty stores. I figured they might have some used Speedmasters or at least know where to find them. I made a list of a few places and went to check them out. It is hard to find it. There are no good used ones in stock. They are either in poor condition or too expensive.
After all that searching, I finally found it! A copy Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch with the sapphire crystal. It wasn’t brand new, but it was in great condition and the price was right. The open case back is amazing. I can see all the little gears and movements. It’s mesmerizing!
So, yeah, that’s my story of getting my hands on a copy Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. It took a lot of searching and a bit of luck, but I’m really happy with it. It’s a beautiful watch with a cool history, even if it’s not the original one.
