Remake PRADA Large Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag? Is It Worth Buying and How to Get

Okay, so I’ve been obsessed with the Prada Galleria Saffiano Leather Bag for a while now. You know, the big one, the classic style. It’s just so timeless, and I felt like I needed to have a go at making my own version. So, I decided to remake it.

First, I gathered all my materials. This was a bit of a challenge, finding the right kind of leather and hardware. I really wanted to get that Saffiano texture, that cross-hatch pattern that makes the bag so unique and tough. I spent days looking for something similar. I finally found a decent leather that had a similar texture, not perfect, but good enough for my project. I also ordered some metal hardware that looked pretty close to the original Prada stuff.

Then, I started cutting the leather. This was tricky because I had to make sure all the pieces were the right size and shape. I carefully measured everything twice, sometimes thrice, before making a single cut. It’s kind of like when you are baking, and you need to measure the ingredients perfectly, you know? If you mess up, the whole thing could be ruined. I also made sure to leave some extra material just in case I made a mistake.

Next, I began to sew the pieces together. This was the most time-consuming part of the whole project. I used a heavy-duty sewing machine, but it was still tough going. Saffiano is known for being durable and scratch-resistant, and let me tell you, it’s also tough to sew! I broke a few needles along the way, seriously. But I persevered, slowly and steadily stitching the pieces together.

After the main body of the bag was assembled, I added the handles and the shoulder strap. I wanted to make sure they were really secure, so I reinforced the stitching in those areas. Then I attached the hardware, like the zipper and the little feet on the bottom of the bag. It felt a bit like putting together a puzzle, a very complicated, leather puzzle.

Finally, after what seemed like forever, I was finished! It wasn’t exactly like the real Prada Galleria. There are definitely some differences. But honestly, I was pretty proud of how it turned out. It’s a big, sturdy bag, perfect for carrying my laptop and all my other stuff. It also got that classic look, which I really love.

  • It was a fun, although challenging project.
  • I learned a lot about working with leather.
  • It made me appreciate the craftsmanship of those real designer bags.

Maybe I’ll tackle another designer bag remake in the future. Who knows! But for now, I’m pretty happy with my homemade “Prada” Galleria.
